Regional action plan for improving the competitiveness of cross-border SMEs

The Regional Action Plan for Improving the Competitiveness of Cross-Border SMEs was developed in the framework of the project entitled “Development of a Regional Action Plan for Improving the Competitiveness of Cross-Border SMEs”, through the Small Project Fund for the Eastern Programme Area. Project registration number: FMP-E/2001. The project was co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.


The Regional Action Plan addresses a number of obstacles faced by SMEs, including but not limited to:
– Lack of education for entrepreneurs on the opportunities offered by the EU and the means to meet their business objectives,
– insufficient education and training,
– excessive bureaucracy
– lack of trust in the State
– high tax and levy burdens
– and many others.

The Regional Action Plan for Improving the Competitiveness of Cross-Border SMEs (the Action Plan) aims to:
– Strengthening cross-border bilateral cooperation,
– exchange of experience
– improving inter-institutional cooperation.

The Action Plan is intended to serve as a guide and a tool for SMEs to help improve the competitiveness and efficiency of SMEs in the Slovak-Hungarian border area.
